So, what EXACTLY does a postpartum doula do?

Great question! The word “doula” comes from the Greek for “woman’s servant.” These days, doulas support people of all genders as they navigate life’s most precious transitions. As a postpartum doula, I specialize in caring for families following the birth of their new baby. This can include:

  • Diapering

  • Bathing

  • Helping create a daily routine for baby

  • Providing evidence-based education on newborn care, empowering parents to make informed decisions for their babies

  • Supporting parents in their feeding journey, be it bodyfeeding, bottle-feeding or a blend of both

  • Practical household support such as cooking and laundry

  • Lending a listening ear to family members as they emotionally process the transition to life with a newborn

  • Hands-on and experienced help with toddler and preschool sibling adjustment to new baby

It is always my goal to tailor my support to each of my clients’ needs, blending each of these services into a package that works for their unique path. I currently offer the above services during the daytime and do not provide overnight support at this time.
