Hi there, I’m meredith! Here’s a little bit of my story.

I’ve been a natural nurturer from a young age, always fascinated with the miracles of pregnancy and babies! I decided early that I wanted to be a mom when I grew up. Realizing I couldn’t major in “Mom” in college, I got my degree in education and psychology and worked as a lead HeadStart teacher between years of babysitting and nannying, looking forward to the day I’d have the privilege of becoming a parent myself.

When it finally happened, I was thrilled but shocked by how difficult it was! Between advice-overload from well-intentioned friends to a birth experience that didn’t go according to plan, navigating the postpartum season with both of my children was extremely challenging.

We figured it out on our own, but new parents shouldn’t have to. all parents need a support system; Postpartum doulas are just one link in that chain of support.

We are there to listen, guide, help, love, encourage and empower. We make meals, because staying nourished those early days of parenthood is imperative. We guide infant feeding, whether you choose to breastfeed, or formula feed— we are there to help. We handle household tasks until you and your partner can do it on your own. We watch over you and your partner--“mothering the mothers and the fathers” because everyone needs to be loved through challenging days.

A postpartum doula is the person you need by your side to guide you.

When I’m not working with families and absorbing all the newborn care knowledge I possibly can, my family is my biggest priority.

My husband, Duane, and I just celebrated our 23rd wedding anniversary and have two beautiful children: My son Parker is 18, just graduated high school and is a wonderful musician. My daughter, Evie, would be 17 this year; she was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia in May of 2018 and passed away that October.

Navigating life without her is very hard and we’re all still figuring it out together; she’s the most special person I’ve ever known, and we continue to celebrate her life through the Team Evie Foundation. I hope to make her and my son proud in all the work I do nurturing families as a postpartum doula.

Thank you for taking the time to get to know me! I look forward to meeting you to talk all things motherhood, babies and the art of taking life one day at a time.

Love and Light,

Meredith Swierczynski
